THE TEACHING TREE

Welcome to the Teaching Tree. We are a homeschooling family and we thoroughly enjoy teaching our children. We count it an honor to train up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord from the surroundings of our home. Together we strive for excellence in character, life skills and academics, realizing that preparing for life is equipping for the future. Here on this Earth and for Eternity! That's what we love about this. Everyday is school. Whether it's hittin' the books or workin' & playin' hard outdoors we choose to teach and train our children for LIFE.
It's our lifestyle now for their lives tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you find our site fun and enjoyable.

School's winding down

We are getting ready to finish our year of school. I just got back from a wonderful homeschool conference down in my home state and thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it!!! Wow! It made me want to come home and get the kids started on next year's subjects, projects and everything!!

Here's a little bit of what we're planning for next year with our youngest son who is going into 3rd grade:

3rd grade subject & curriculum list:

  • Bible: Holy Bible-KJV and daily devotional
  • Math: Math-U-See
  • English: Intermediate Lang. Lessons & Rod & Staff
  • Reading: Pathway Readers & Workbooks
  • History: Early American Pioneers
  • Science: Apologia-Botany
  • Handwriting: Italic H/W Series-C
  • State Study: Simply Stated
  • Extra Curricular: Children's Choir, Bible Quizzing, Piano, Computer, Cooking, Animal Care, How to Raise Puppies and Kittens, Nursing Homes & The Elderly, Being Neighborly
Of course, this isn't a complete list. We will use many different books to add to our list. Plus, most subjects integrate copywork, recitation, memory work, notebooking, as well as oral reading and poem writing.

More on this coming shortly. Let me know what you do for your young children. I plan to add my 5th and 6th graders to this list soon.

Have a great day! Kimi
