THE TEACHING TREE

Welcome to the Teaching Tree. We are a homeschooling family and we thoroughly enjoy teaching our children. We count it an honor to train up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord from the surroundings of our home. Together we strive for excellence in character, life skills and academics, realizing that preparing for life is equipping for the future. Here on this Earth and for Eternity! That's what we love about this. Everyday is school. Whether it's hittin' the books or workin' & playin' hard outdoors we choose to teach and train our children for LIFE.

Austin's Special Day

Since we are still finishing up school, working around the farm, going to camp and just generally keeping super busy with summer, I decided to give our youngest son a little break from his work. Like we work him so terribly hard!! LOL!!

While his older brother Garrett and older sister Micaylah went to camp this week, Austin and I went to the park. A few of his friends came too and the boys had such a great time getting into the water.
here's a shot of the whole area..water even comes out the top, of the flower..so cool

We have this park nearby and it has an area that is sectioned off and fenced in. The flooring is cushioned with a rubber pad and there are water spouts that shoot water out in a cool sequence.
And there is a shaded area for the "Moms". Yea!! That made it even more special. So all the moms sat under the cool shady trees, talked and then we had a little pic-nic. So fun! Only thing that would have made it better...if all my friends could have been there with their kids!! I am so blessed.

Our Favorite Literature

Misty Of Chincoteague and the Marguerite Henry Series for children: These are super for kids of all ages! We like to read about animals that live in different places. These stories are set on an island located in the upper part of the US on the Atlantic Ocean side. We are able to learn so much from each story and almost feel as if we have visited the coastal waters of Maryland and Virginia ourselves. Maybe we will someday.
Little House On The Prairie Series. We have been reading the Little House series for many years now. We have studied early american history and have used this series as a wonderful supplement to our lessons. We have learned much through the daily activities of the Ingall's family, and although it is fun to learn and read about the days of history we are happy to be born in such a time of more conveniences. (eg: INDOOR PLUMBING, hee-hee)

OUR LIST OF FAVORITE BOOKS by Micaylah, Garrett & Austin

The Bearenstein Bears by Stan & Jan Bearenstein. Austin says he likes these stories because the words are not too hard. "I'm reading all by myself now!"
Janette Oke Animal Friends books for young readers. We like "The Prodical Cat" "New Kid in Town" & "The Impatient Turtle". Micaylah says, "One of my favorites is 'New Kid In Town' because it shows you that it's ok to be different." We learned that it's good to accept others how they are and how important it is to just be yourself. "You should read 'em!"
The Boxcar Children Books-Garrett says, " I like them because they have fun in the story and they get to be with their Grandfather."
